Under National Socialism, work was not only economically important, but also a means of control and exclusion. The Nazi regime demanded work as a "duty" to the National Socialist "people's community". Anyone who did not fit into the system was excluded, disenfranchised or conscripted into forced labor.

The exhibition "Work 1938-1945" shows the extent to which the National Socialists intervened in working conditions - including in Carinthia. Companies were restructured hierarchically, workers were evaluated according to ideological criteria and people from occupied territories were forced to work. Many were forced to work under inhumane conditions in agriculture or industry.

In six themed areas, the exhibition explains how the National Socialist work system functioned and what consequences it had for people. Digital elements help visitors to come to terms with the history and show places of remembrance in Carinthia that are linked to the topic.
