Germanic runes have been in use since the 2nd century AD. Over the centuries, they have not only been used as characters, but have also been instrumentalized politically time and again. The surviving inscriptions vary greatly in content, form and scope - some still puzzle researchers to this day. In this course, you will learn what steps are necessary to read and interpret runic inscriptions. Learn not only to decipher the signs, but also to classify them historically and question them critically.
