Buds and wood - recognize, determine, collect

Winter offers a special opportunity to intensively observe the growth forms and habitus of trees and shrubs. During the barren season, typical characteristics become particularly apparent: the shape of the branches, the structure and color of the bark, the position of the buds and differences in the color and shape of the leaf buds. This makes identification much easier with a little practice.

The workshop teaches how trees and shrubs can be reliably identified using these characteristics. Step by step, twigs are collected, seeds are identified and the diversity of native wood species is discovered. At the end, you will have a sound knowledge of winter tree identification and a collection of buds that you have created yourself.

The course is part of our "VHS Green" course series, which focuses on sustainability and conscious living. Aspects of sustainability are discussed, possible courses of action are shown and reflection is encouraged.
