Moors are among the most fascinating and at the same time most sensitive ecosystems in our landscape. They store enormous amounts of carbon, regulate the water balance and provide valuable habitats for numerous bird species, some of which are rare.
This diversity is particularly impressive in the Tiebelmündung/Bleistätter Moor European nature reserve: new, vibrant habitats have been created through renaturation - from shallow water zones and swamp forests to island and sedimentation areas.
During the morning excursion, you will get to know the different moorland habitats and observe their feathered inhabitants. In the afternoon, you will deepen your knowledge of the importance of moors for the climate and biodiversity and gain insights into selected moors in Carinthia that are considered hotspots for bird conservation.
A day full of nature experience, knowledge and inspiration to protect our unique moorland landscapes.
The course is part of our "VHS Green" course series, which focuses on sustainability and conscious living. Aspects of sustainability are discussed, opportunities for action are highlighted and reflection is encouraged. The "VHS Green" course encourages personal and social change and promotes sustainable lifestyles. The learning objectives are to acquire knowledge about, for example, ecological, social and economic interrelationships and to motivate students to act in a reflective, responsible and resource-conserving manner. #vhsforfuture #BNE
