The pelvic floor is the lower boundary of the small pelvis and consists of muscles and connective tissue. It withstands the pressure of the internal organs when standing and is under even greater strain when lifting, coughing or jumping. The pelvic floor muscles play a major role during pregnancy and childbirth
birth, sexual intercourse, urination and defecation. It is therefore important to keep the pelvic floor "fit". Over the course of a lifetime, the ability of the pelvic floor to cope with stress can be reduced, for example through prolonged sitting, obesity, lack of exercise and also heavy physical exertion. As women are predominantly affected by pelvic floor weakness, this course offers strengthening and relaxation exercises to improve pelvic floor function for women of all ages.
