This exciting panel discussion is dedicated to the question of how resilient democratic values and institutions are in times of growing polarization, targeted disinformation and social insecurity. Which forms of pressure on democracy are particularly visible today - and which have been underestimated so far? What changes are needed in the political system to make democratic processes more transparent, accessible and attractive? And what responsibility do we have as individuals and as a society to actively strengthen democratic culture?

Together with experts from academia, the media and political education, we want to discuss what answers there can be to the current challenges - and how we can win over people of all generations for a vibrant democratic culture.

In discussion:
Antonia Gössinger, journalist and ombudswoman, Austrian Press Council
Kurt Guwak, co-founder of the non-partisan initiative MehrGrips and co-author of the book "Demokratie sucht Zukunft" (Democracy seeks a future)
Kathrin Stainer-Hämmerle, Professor of Political Science, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences

Moderation:
John Evers
Secretary General, Association of Austrian Adult Education Centers and Chairman of the Austrian Society for Civic Education
